University of Würzburg
The mission statement...
The faculty sees itself as an integral part of the entire university. As a result, the mission statement of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics is strongly influenced by the central values and principles of the University of Würzburg.
The mission statement emphasizes the importance of international cooperation, the exchange of students and academics and the encouragement of diversity and globalization.
In the following interview, executive Manager Michael Dörflein explains why the faculty is guided by a mission statement:
The Faculty of Economic Sciences emphasizes on ensuring and promoting quality in studies and teaching.
This obligation is anchored in the quality objectives. These were defined by the Faculty of Studies and Teaching and approved by the Faculty Council.
The faculty uses various forms of evaluation to obtain valuable feedback from students in this regard and, if necessary, to introduce measures to improve and evaluate the quality.
The Faculty pursues the explicit goal of producing academic work in accordance with the principles of good scientific practices. Students are regularly informed about them.
Moreover, training and further education is actively supported, with special offers for both structors and student tutors.
Research at the Faculty of Economic Sciences is based on the research expertise and the teaching experiences of the professors.
The faculty currently has around:
Professors and
research assistants.
The research areas of the professorships concentrate on the following focus areas:
In addition to research, the faculty focuses on the training and encouragement of young scientists.
The professors actively promote a connection between academic research and practice. To promote a direct exchange and transfer of knowledge, guest lecturers and series of lectures are organized every semester.

Internationalization plays an important role in the university's mission statement. This is underlined by more than 110 attractive collaborations with universities abroad.
The Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics already has many international researchers and foreign students. Additionally, this number is set to increase through new collaborations with universities worldwide.
This means that all students at the University of Würzburg should have the opportunity to go abroad. A stay abroad is a central component of both academic training and personal development.
The Faculty supports international exchange between students. For example, it enables participation in an exchange program through the Erasmus program within Europe or through partnership programs outside Europe.
There is also the option of applying for an exchange place via the University's International Office.
Alternatively, it is possible to organize the stay abroad independently as a so-called "free mover". However, this involves considerably more financial and organizational efforts.
