University of Würzburg

Faculty of Business Administration and Economics

Welcome to the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg - your new academic home! Founded in 1968, it combines a long history with a modern atmosphere, excellent teaching programmes and first-class research facilities.

The faculty is currently divided into two institutes - Business Administration and Economics. These are home to a large number of chairs, professorships, junior professorships, working groups and academic and administrative staff. Due to this structure, various subject areas are comprehensively covered. This provides the approximately 3000 students at Sanderring access to academic excellence and research diversity. The impressive number of students underlines the popularity and relevance of these degree programmes as well as the students' confidence in the outstanding quality of teaching and research at our faculty.

Studentenhaus

The Studentenhaus in Würzburg is a central meeting point for JMU students. The house serves as a contact point for counselling and support with study and personal matters. Furthermore, the canteen is located here, which is easily accessible on foot from the Neue Universität

It is open from 11.30 am to 3 pm. In addition to meat dishes, there are also vegetarian and vegan options, which can be viewed online in the menu. If you don't want to wait in line for long, you should avoid the peak times from 12-2 pm. The highlight is the large outdoor area, which invites you to linger in summer.

Study programme plan

The compulsory modules comprise 90 ECTS credits and extend over the first three semesters for all Bachelor's students. These include Business Administration (30 ECTS), Economics (25 ECTS), Quantitative Methods (30 ECTS) and Law (5 ECTS).

From the fourth semester onwards, compulsory elective modules allow students to set individual specialisations with an additional 60 ECTS from a defined module pool. In addition, 20 ECTS are provided for general and subject-specific key qualifications, such as language courses, tutor activities or business and economics internships.

The fifth or sixth semester offers an ideal opportunity for a stay abroad with the exchange programmes offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics. The final semester is dedicated to writing the Bachelor's thesis (10 ECTS).

A smooth start to your studies: Your indispensable fresher's checklist

Once you have successfully enrolled at JMU, you will have access to important online services such as WueStudy and WueCampus with your JMU account. Your versatile student chip card serves as your ID, semester ticket and method payment. It is important to validate it before the start of the semester. This can be done at the Neue Universität, at the Studentenhaus or at the Hubland Campus.

If you would like to apply for a place of residence at the Studentenwerk, you should apply early. Register your primary residence in Würzburg to benefit from advantages such as the semester ticket reimbursement.

You have the option of organising your own timetable via WueStudy, but please note the study programme plan for recommended module allocations.

It is advisable to take part in preliminary courses to refresh your A-level knowledge. Introductory events are crucial for a smooth start to your studies and also provide an opportunity to get to know your fellow students. The Freshman Days/Orientation Days, one week before the start of the semester, are essential for a successful start, including tips and getting to know your fellow students and faculty.
